MAN Truck & Bus
MAN TGX achieves top results
Recently, at the European Truck Challenge press comparison test, the new MAN TGX achieved the best result when it came to operating costs, and also grabbed a top spot for consumption. In the overall evaluation of the competitors involved, this resulted in an excellent second place, just behind its sister company Scania. Prior to this, the MAN TGX had already driven home with an overall win at the renowned Euro Truck Test.
When it came to operating costs (one of the key assessment categories of the European Truck Challenge), the MAN TGX 18.510 was in part considerably ahead of the three competitors Scania 540 S, Mercedes-Benz Actros 1853 and DAF XF 530 with its 73.2 cents per kilometre. With its low consumption of 28.1 litres over 100 kilometres, it was also almost on a par with the truck winning first place, the Scania 540 S (28.0 litres). Together with top assessments for driver assistance, vehicle handling, interior and rest area, it thereby drove into a very confident second place in the overall assessment.
The new MAN TGX, which was first showcased in February 2020, was therefore able to prove its calibre in another important comparison test. Shortly before this, an MAN TGX 18.430 had driven home with the overall win in the Euro Truck Test – ahead of Scania and Mercedes-Benz – thanks to its consumption of 23.41 litres over 100 kilometres and the best score in the driver assessment.
Limitless possibilities with MAN Individual
The standard equipment in the new MAN Truck generation is diverse – but MAN also offers even more, if desired: with the offers from MAN Individual, you can design your MAN to meet your visions and requirements 100 per cent. You get what you need. In the case of MAN Individual vehicle finishes, this is not merely lip service. The MAN Individual team stands for vehicle finishes and modifications based on the exclusive wishes of the customer. Everything drivers and customers need to successfully fulfil their duties and that makes their day more pleasant – with MAN Individual, individual wishes are developed from the idea through to the truck.
First-rate driver focus plays a decisive role in the new MAN Truck generation. In line with this, products from MAN Individual were integrated for the first time during a vehicle launch. The best example: the MAN TGX Individual Lion. The flagship of the new truck generation gets its exclusive sun visor from MAN Individual. A detail that gives the truck that extra something and ensures recognition.
Alongside exclusive exterior styling – from the strikingly designed roof bar with auxiliary headlights, the front and side bars, and wheel covers for alloy wheels through to the door entry lighting, the MAN lettering and the lion as a light accent on the floor – great attention has been placed on outfitting the cab.
MAN Individual offers diverse equipment options for the optimal design of the driver’s cab: relaxation in the hammock, LED TV for that cinematic feel on board or a stylish built-in cupboard that, with the possible combination of a microwave and coffee machine, even conjures up an on-board kitchen. For the latter, press reviews have recently attested to MAN’s “attention to detail” at the presentation in Bilbao.
The cab of the new MAN truck is packed with innovations
Climb aboard and take a tour. A lot has been changed in the cab of the new MAN truck generation to make your everyday work easier and your environment more comfortable and attractive. The cab has been redesigned from the roof down to the footwell.
As soon as you take your seat, you immediately notice the new cockpit, which is optimally aligned to the driver. Displays and controls are physically separated from each other, and so are much easier to reach and read. You can look down from the road to the display without getting overly distracted. Added comfort is provided, for example, by the completely new transmission control located directly on the stalk switch, which gives you more space. Another highlight is an absolute first: the innovative MAN SmartSelect, which makes it extremely easy to operate the multimedia system even on rough roads. Have we aroused your curiosity? Then climb aboard and see for yourself.
THE ATTRACTION OF TRACTION
Be it on wet, muddy or snow-covered streets, damaged driving surfaces or even off-road, the MAN TGE 4x4 will get you safely where you need to be. Our low-maintenance all-wheel drive system comes fully integrated from the factory, giving you a one-stop solution with a short delivery time and all at an amazingly low price.
It takes just 84 milliseconds for the all-wheel coupling system to smoothly transfer the drive torque to the axle where it is required, meaning both driver and goods arrive safely at their destination, whatever the weather.
On good road conditions, these timely transfers triggered by the smart, integrated all-wheel drive solution make you just as energy-efficient as you would be using a front-wheel drive. If required by the road conditions, the drive torque is flexibly distributed to both front and rear axles in just milliseconds, so that, on a wet road, for example, you never lose the feel of the ground beneath your wheels.

#PROUDPROFESSIONALS RELAUNCH POWERS UP INDUSTRY PRIDE
Today, #ProudProfessionals, the campaign that celebrates the skilled people who work across the commercial vehicle industry, officially kicks off its relaunch to power up more pride in the industry.
Bold new branding, with a logo inspired by a 6x2 axle configuration and a new tagline, ‘We keep the nation running’, underscores the vital role the transport industry plays in delivering the essentials of our daily lives, stimulating trade, business efficiency and growth.
Announcing the relaunch, Alex Williams, Head of Brand & Communications - Renault Trucks UK & Ireland, said: “Originally launched in 2017, #ProudProfessionals has been shining a light on our industry’s dedicated, highly-trained people, encouraging them to take more pride in their roles and in the value of their work.
“Current circumstances demonstrate just how vital the transport industry is to our country. Virtually everything we eat, the products and medicines we use, are safely delivered by a truck or van that is operated, driven and maintained by ProudProfessionals. Our hashtag is already well known, and while #ProudProfessionals has never been more relevant, we’ve always been in this for the long term; our reinvigorated campaign is the next step in helping to celebrate the great people who make up this great industry.”
Renault Trucks to double range T High production
Following its UK launch in June 2017, the Range T High has been enthusiastically received by operators and drivers who appreciate its fully-flat floor and spacious, comfortable and well-appointed working and living areas. Exceptionally strong demand for the right hand drive model has prompted the increase in production at Renault Trucks Bourg-en-Bresse plant in Lyon.
James Charnock, Commercial Trucks and Services Director, Renault Trucks, comments: “We are delighted by the response to the Range T High since its launch. We have a very strong order booked filled to the end of the year so this increase in production capacity will enable us to offer more T Highs to more customers in a shorter time. “
He continues: “This truck offers the perfect work life balance, effortlessly meeting the needs of those who want a home-from-home working environment, a truck which offers a great image for their business yet still provides outstanding operational efficiency.”
The T High has been welcomed by operators in the UK and Ireland, both by operators looking for a striking new vehicle for their fleets, and those who recognise that the T High’s features and comfort will help them to attract and retain the best drivers.
James Charnock concludes: “Drivers love the generous working, living and sleeping environment, which helps to increase satisfaction and productivity. Enhanced residual values also underpin the T High’s excellent total cost of ownership performance, so it makes real commercial sense for long-haul operators.”
Renault Trucks unveils exclusive Master Red Edition
Delivering a bold new look, new engines, new interior and new driver-assistance systems, the 2019 Renault Trucks Master arrives in the UK with an exclusive launch version, the Master Red EDITION, offered throughout the Renault Trucks Master diesel and electric range. A striking new frontage and completely revamped interior, redesigned dashboard and steering wheel, together with functional, ergonomic storage spaces will appeal to both drivers and operators alike. The new Renault Trucks Master also offers new driver-assistance systems, including active braking, side wind assist, permanent rear view, blind spot warning and front and rear parking assistance.
It features six new Euro 6d-temp and Euro VI diesel engines, from 130 hp to 180 hp/400 Nm, together with an electric 57kW engine. All diesel engines are fitted with Twin-Turbo technology, which combines low-end torque with high-power for optimal driving. Fuel consumption is therefore reduced up to 1L/100 km and CO2 emissions remain under control.
ISUZU Truck
Isuzu expands its new truck sales operation in Scotland
Leading commercial vehicle manufacturer Isuzu Truck UK has announced that two of its existing Parts and Service dealers in Scotland have been appointed as Sales dealers, with both organisations now offering full sales operations for the Isuzu 2020 truck range from 3.5t to 13.5t.
In the North of Scotland, Elgin Truck & Van Centre Ltd – ETV, will develop into Sales dealer status for both its Elgin and Inverness locations, Dundee and the East will be covered by Norscot Truck & Van Ltd.
Announcing details of this double dealer appointment, Richard Waterworth, head of sales, Isuzu Truck UK, said, “Both Norscot and Elgin Truck & Van joined the ITUK dealer network over a year ago as parts and service dealers. This next step to full dealer status is a logical move for each organisation, who are both seeing an increasing demand for the Isuzu Truck marque in their areas of the country.”
At ETV, the company’s Operations Director Colin Milne will be dedicated to selling the Isuzu Truck marque from both their Inverness and Elgin locations.
“The addition of the Isuzu Truck authorized repairer status to our business has been a tremendous success. With business levels expanding significantly in such a short time. It is now the right time to capitalise on this growing interest in the Isuzu range from operators in the area,” said Colin Scott, dealer principal at Elgin Truck & Van Ltd.
Isuzu is the natural choice for S&D Harper gas deliveries
North east Scotland Calor Gas dealer S&D Harper has just taken delivery of its first ever Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigid truck that is now delivering gas products on a weekly basis to homes and businesses in an area from Inverness to Turriff and inland as far as Grantown on Spey.
The Isuzu N75.190 short wheelbase chassis cab has been specified with a 14 ft alloy drop side body fitted with a rear mounted tail lift. S&D Harper are looking to run this new Isuzu for a five-year working life covering approximately 25,000 miles per annum.
“We operate three vehicles covering Calor Gas deliveries and previously we have always used local company Elgin Truck & Van for all our service work for these vehicles. With their recent appointment as an Isuzu Truck service dealer, we were interested to see how the Isuzu 7.5 tonner would work within our fleet as we are always looking for maximum payload, which is something that has long been associated with the Isuzu brand,” said Stuart Harper, director, S&D Harper Ltd.
Isuzu achieves record breaking performance in 2019
Leading commercial vehicle manufacturer Isuzu Truck UK has revealed that 2019 was a record year for the company as it achieved an overall 23.5% increase in vehicle sales for the calendar year, confirming that it was, in fact, its best year ever, in terms of the total number of vehicle sales in the company’s 23 year history in the UK.
Leading the company’s outstanding results were sales of the Isuzu 3.5 tonne Grafter range, which experienced a fantastic 47.7% growth in sales against the previous year, in a competitive marketplace that grew by just 13% in 2019.
Further up the GVW range, sales of the company’s F series were boosted by the arrival of the new 13.5 tonne range, with total sales increasing by 47.5% over the equivalent 12 months in 2018.
The company’s flagship range of 7.5 tonne rigid trucks, the backbone of the company for so many years, continued to defy market predictions by achieving a very steady and consistent level of sales throughout the year, and finished 2nd in the registration results for the year.
Isuzu further strengthens its dealer coverage in the North of Scotland
Leading truck manufacturer Isuzu Truck UK has strengthened its dealer coverage in the North of Scotland with the appointment of Elgin Truck & Van Centre Ltd, who have been appointed authorised repairers for the Isuzu truck range at both its Elgin and Inverness locations.
Announcing details of these changes, Richard Waterworth, head of sales, Isuzu Truck UK said, “The appointment of Elgin Truck & Van Centre is an incredibly important strategic addition to the UK dealer network for Isuzu Truck, most importantly filling the gaps in our aftersales coverage of Scotland.”
Richard continues, “The Isuzu truck parc in the North of Scotland continues to grow and we felt it was essential for us to have a long-term dealer presence in the area and we are really pleased with the appointment of Elgin Truck & Van Centre Ltd.“
